EXTENSION OF PASSPORTS:

Based on the urgent needs and frequent requests from the citizens of Afghanistan, the Consulate General of Afghanistan in Vancouver would like to inform that Afghans holding Machine-readable passports (Not handwritten) can request to extend/renew their passports for a validity period of five years.  

Please refer to the following requirement before you apply for a passport extension:

- Application form: The form needs to be filled out clearly in CAPITAL LETTERS or preferably on a computer in both English and Dari/Farsi or Pashto. The passport application form can be accessed at the bottom of this page.
- Old passport: Machine-Readable (not handwritten) Afghan Passport is eligible for extension and please send the original passport (extension page will be added to the original passport).
- ID: A photocopy of your ID that shows your Status in Canada or the US (e.g., photocopy of PR card, Copy of Driver’s License, or copy of Landing paper or Refugee claimant if you do not have the other IDs). Please note that Copy of only one of the mentioned documents is needed.
- Photocopy of Tazkira: A photocopy of your Afghan Tazkira is also needed to be included in the package.  
Please try to combine and copy your IDs in a single page and avoid sending copies of IDs individually in several pages.
 
- EXPRESS/REGISTERED SELF-ADDRESSED RETURN ENVELOPE: The applicants outside of British Columbia and those who reside in the United States are required to provide an Express/Registered self-addressed prepaid envelope. The Consulate General will use the Express/Registered envelope to send your Renewed/extended passport to the designated address provided on the envelope. Please note that all other types of envelopes will not be accepted. The applicants are also required to note the “Tracking number” of the Express Post to enable them to track their post. Note to applicants from the US: Please make sure your post office creates the package as a self-addressed prepaid return envelope (two way package- One envelope from your address to the address of the Consulate and another return label from the Consulate address to your address) so you can receive your extended passport through mail to your address in the US. Please do not send packages without the self-addressed return envelope as described above. Based on packages received from clients,  FedEx and UPS have been able to provide these services. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We recommend you do not use ground option when sending your packages since there will be additional costs related to duties/taxes at the border. If you use the ground shipment option, please talk to the shipping agency so they charge you for additional costs on duties/taxes. The Consulate is not responsible for any charges/fees on duties/taxes related to the ground shipping of your package. Also, the Consulate reserves the right to decline acceptance of any package that may incur duties/taxes later on.  

ORDINARY PASSPORT EXTENSION FEE:
All fees must be in the form of a “Money Order” payable to the “Consulate General of Afghanistan in Vancouver” and we do NOT accept blank Money orders. The Consulate General does NOT accept cash or card under any circumstances. Please note that money orders from Scotia Bank in Canada cannot be deposited and you should obtain it from other banks. Also, some money orders that are local for U.S only (from the USPS postal office or other stores) cannot be accepted here in Canada and clients should obtain them from other U.S banks. 
Note: Applicants from the United States should ask their banks (such as Wells Fargo, US bank, Bank of America, Citi, PNC or other reputable banks) to issue "money orders" payable in Canada to the "Consulate General of Afghanistan in Vancouver" and make sure they are cleared and can be deposited in Canada. Please include the money orders in your package and mail it to us. If some banks provide you with a payment document like "cashier's check" or "Bank Draft" which must be equivalent to a "money order", has certified funds (guaranteed funds), and can be deposited in Canada, you can consider this option  as well. Please do NOT send "personal checks". 

Normal Processing: 120 USD for five-year validity (15 business days processing time)
Urgent Processing: 150 USD for five-year validity (2-4 business days processing time for mailed passports and walk in/same day service for those who visit the Consulate) 

Please note that there are late fees for expired passports based on legal procedures and the fees will be calculated based on $5 for every three months or $20 for each year. If your passport's expiration is more than three years, please calculate and include the first three years in the money order and remaining years beyond the three years will be waived. The late fees should be paid in separate money order payable to the Consulate General of Afghanistan in Vancouver.
Note: The Consulate General does not issue new passports at this time and only renews/extends passports for a validity period of five years.  

تمدید پاسپورت
بر اساس نیازهای عاجل و درخواست‌ اتباع افغانستان، جنرال قونسلگری افغانستان در ونکوور به اطلاع می‌رساند که افغان‌های دارای پاسپورت‌های ماشین خوان (پاسپورت های که دست نویس قدیمی نیستند)، می‌توانند برای تمدید پاسپورت خود برای مدت اعتبار پنج ساله، در خواست نمایند.
لطفاً قبل از درخواست تمدید پاسپورت، به شرایط ذیل توجه کنید و اسناد لازم را تهیه نمایید:
• فورم درخواست تمدید: این فورم باید به دو زبان انگلیسی و دری/فارسی یا پشتو بصورت دقیق و خوانا خانه پری شود. لطفاً فورم درخواست تمدید پاسپورت را در پایین این صفحه دریابید.
• پاسپورت قبلی: فقط پاسپورت افغانی ماشین خوان (پاسپورتی که دست نویس قدیمی نیست) واجد شرایط تمدید است و لطفاً اصل پاسپورت را غرض نصب استیکر تمدید به این جنرال قونسلگری ارسال کنید.
• شناسنامه/سند هویت: کاپی یک سند هویتی که وضعیت شما را در کانادا و یا ایالات متحده امریکا نشان می دهد (به عنوان مثال، کاپی کارت اقامت دایمی یا کاپی پاسپورت کانادایی/امریکائی، /جواز سیر گواهینامه رانندگی، یا کاپی ورق فرود/رسیدن به کانادا/امریکا یا سناسنامه مدعی پناهندگی در صورتیکه اسناد هویت ذکر شده را نداشته باشید). لطفاً تمام کارتها/اسناد هویت خود را در یک صفحه تا حد ممکن کاپی کنید و صرف کاپی یکی از اسناد فوق را ارسال کنید. در صورت داشتن سوالی در مورد اسناد، با شماره بخش قونسلی در تماس شوید.
. فوتوکاپی تذکره تابعیت: فوتوکاپی تذکره نیز شامل اسناد گردد.
پاکت برگشتی ثبت شده و پیش پرداخت (به آدرس خود تان). متقاضیان خارج از ولایت بریتیش کولمبیای کانادا و یا آنهائیکه در ایالات متحده امریکا اقامت دارند مکلف به ارائه یک پاکت اکسپرس/ثبت شده پیش پرداخت با آدرس خود هستند (یک پاکت حاوی پاسپورت و اسناد از آدرس خود تان به آدرس جنرال قونسلگری و یک پاکت خالی با لیبل برگشت از آدرس جنرال قونسلگری به آدرس خود تان ترتیبت شود و در بین پاکت ارسالی به قونسلگری گذاشته شود). جنرال قونسلگری در ونکوور پاسپورت تمدید شده شما را به آدرس تان که روی پاکت با لیبل برگشتی درج است، ارسال می کند. لطفاً توجه داشته باشید که سایر انواع پاکت ها پذیرفته نمی شود. همچنان متقاضیان باید "شماره پیگیری" پست اکسپرس را یادداشت کنند تا بتوانند پست خود را پیگیری کنند. چنین خدمات را شرکت های پستی مانند "یو پی اس" یا "فدکس" ارائه کرده می توانند. آدرس پستی این جنرال قونسلگری چنین است:

هزینه تمدید پاسپورت
 تمام هزینه ها باید به صورت "مانی آردر" قابل پرداخت به و تحت عنوان "جنرال قونسلگری افغانستان در ونکوور" باشد. مانی آردر های که عنوانی جنرال قونسلگری نیستند، قابل پذیرش نمی باشند. همچنان، پول نقد یا از طریق کارت بانکی قابل پذیرش نیست.
طی مراحل عادی: 120 دالر امریکایی با اعتبار پنج ساله (طی حدود 15 روز کاری).
طی مراحل عاجل: 150 دالر امریکایی با اعتبار پنج ساله (طی 2 الی6 روز کاری برای پاسپورت های که از طریق پست رسیده و همچنان برای کسانیکه در عین روز حضوری به قونسلگری مراجعه می کنند و در همان روز اجراآت میشود.).
توجه: ایجاب می نماید تا متقاضیان مقیم ایالات متحده از بانک های خود تقاضا کنند که "مانی آردر" یا سند مشابه صادر شده از بانک که قابل پرداخت در کانادا باشد، را عنوانی "جنرال قونسلگری افغانستان در ونکوور" صادر کنند و از تسویه و قابل واریز شدن آنها در کانادا اطمینان حاصل کنند. لطفا "مانی آردر ها" را در پاکت/بسته خود قرار دهید و برای ما پست کنید.
اگر پاسپورت شما منقضی شده باشد، هزینه جریمه مبلغ 5 دالر برای هر سه ماه یا هر سال 20 دالر طبق قانون محاسبه می شود. اگر پاسپورت شما بیش از سه سال جریمه داشته باشد (انقضای آن بیش از سه سال باشد)، لطفاً تنها سه سال جریمه را محاسبه و در "مانی آردر" شامل کنید و باقی سالهای فراتر از سه سال، معاف میشوند. هزینه های جریمه باید در "مانی آردر "جداگانه ای تهیه شود که به جنرال قونسلگری افغانستان در ونکوور پرداخت می شود.
یادداشت: نظر به شرایط غیر عادی، پاسپورت جدید موجود نیست تا صادر شود و صرف پاسپورت های قبلی تمدید می گردند.
   

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• Applicants are encouraged to apply directly to the Consulate General, applications submitted to the Consulate General by any agency or on behalf will not be processed and will be returned to the applicant. 
• Ensure you write your full name in Dari/Pashto on the application. Application that are incomplete and/or missing necessary document will not be proceed. 
  
• Applicant will not receive a refund after submitting the application. 
  
• Applicants are requested to avoid making any travel arrangements before receiving their passports. The Consulate will not accept any responsibility for delay in processing passports applications or changes in clients travel plans. 
  
• Applicants that have not completed 18 years, will only be issued passport with 5 years validity.
