On March 4, 2025, Simon Fraser University (SFU) hosted a reception for the Consular Corps of British Columbia, bringing together diplomatic representatives, government officials, SFU faculty, and students. Consul General Ramin Manawi also participated and engaged with the participants.

During the program, SFU President Ms. Joy Johnson, alongside other dignitaries, delivered remarks highlighting the university’s strategic vision, global engagement initiatives, partnerships with foreign institutions, and its role in addressing pressing global challenges.

Consul General Manawi engaged in discussions with President Johnson, SFU faculty members, and other attendees, focusing on the situation of Afghan students at SFU, potential avenues for academic cooperation, and support for students from Afghanistan. The event served as a platform to strengthen diplomatic and educational ties while reaffirming SFU’s commitment to fostering international academic opportunities.
