Consul General Ramin Manawi attends the Friends of PICS Gala in Surrey, BC
Consul General Ramin Manawi attended the Friends of PICS Gala in Surrey, BC on March 13, 2026. The event brought together community leaders, public officials, and representatives of civil society.
 
Among those in attendance were Premier David Eby, provincial ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, Consuls General of Afghanistan, USA, and India, the Surrey Chief of Police, CEO’s of many organizations, and other distinguished guests. The event provided an opportunity to engage on issues related to community development, social services, and multicultural cooperation.
 
Organized by the Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS) Society, the event highlighted the organization’s work in delivering social, employment, and settlement services across the province, particularly in support of seniors and newcomers.
 
The Gala also supported fundraising efforts for the Guru Nanak Diversity Village, a long-term care facility aimed at providing culturally appropriate services for seniors from diverse backgrounds.
 
The program also included the presentation of several awards recognizing excellence in community service and philanthropy. Among the recipients, Mrs. Nasima Nastoh was honoured for her dedicated service and contributions to the Afghan community. We extend our congratulations to Mrs. Nastoh on this well-deserved award and commend her contributions to our community.
 
The Consul General expressed his appreciation to Mr. Satbir Cheema, CEO of PICS, and his team for organizing a well-executed and meaningful event.
 
The Consulate remains committed to continued engagement with community partners in British Columbia to support initiatives that promote inclusion, social cohesion, and community well-being.
