Consul General Ramin Manawi attends the UBC Reception with the Consular Corps of BC

On April 14, 2025, Consul General of Afghanistan in Vancouver, Mr. Ramin Manawi, attended a special event hosted by the University of British Columbia (UBC). The event was held at the renowned Museum of Anthropology at UBC and featured privately guided tours of the museum’s extraordinary collections, followed by a networking reception with university leadership and consular corps.
In his remarks during the reception, Dr. Benoit-Antoine Bacon, President of the University of British British Columbia highlighted the university’s commitment to global engagement and stated that UBC thrives on global academic partnerships and it’s central to our mission. From advancing research excellence to driving innovation and preparing the students to be responsible global citizens—all of these objectives are strengthened by UBC’s engagement with partners around the world. Also, Dr. Gage Averill, the Provost and Vice-President at UBC and Consul General Ricardo Arredando, Dean of Consular Corps offered their remarks during the reception.
During the tour, Consul General Manawi had the honour of viewing a number of cultural and historical artifacts from Afghanistan featured in the exhibits and was pleased to see these treasured pieces displayed with care and respect. Their inclusion serves as a meaningful tribute to Afghanistan’s rich and diverse heritage and underscores the importance of cultural preservation and academic exchange.
Consul General Manawi also had the pleasure of meeting UBC President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Benoit-Antoine Bacon, and other UBC faculty and staff engaging in discussions on academic collaboration and the importance of strong partnerships between UBC and institutions around the world.
