Statement of the Consulate General of Afghanistan on the tragic shootings in Tumbler Ridge, B.C.

The Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Vancouver, together with the Afghan community in British Columbia and across Canda, extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, and to all who were injured or affected by the tragic mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia on February 10, 2026. This senseless act of violence at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and nearby locations has left a close-knit community in profound grief and shock.
We stand in solidarity with the people of British Columbia and Canada during this painful time, and our thoughts are with the victims’ families, survivors, and all those supporting one another in the face of this unimaginable loss.
The Consulate General honours the resilience shown by first responders, educators, health professionals, and community members who have worked tirelessly in the aftermath of this tragedy, and we join communities across Canada in mourning those whose lives were taken too soon.
May peace, comfort, and strength be with the people of Tumbler Ridge as they grieve and begin the long work of healing.
