Highlights from a Month of Diplomatic and Community Engagement
During last month, Consul General Ramin Manawi attended a number of consular, governmental, cultural, and community events across BC, Canada, including the following notable occasions:
On February 5, he participated in CANZBA’s Annual Australia Day/Waitangi Day Celebration, organized by the Canada Australia New Zealand Business Association (CANZBA) in cooperation with the Australian and New Zealand Consulates. The event brought together members of the consular corps, business leaders, and representatives of various institutions, celebrating the strong ties between Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
On February 9, Consul General Manawi attended an invitation and briefing for the Consular Corps in Vancouver. The gathering provided an opportunity for dialogue on issues of mutual interest and reinforced cooperation among diplomatic missions and local partners.
On February 11, he took part in a Consular Corps event at the Royal Vancouver Yacht featuring a presentation by Deputy Minister Fazil Mehler on BC’s economic development strategies and priorities. The session offered valuable insights into the province’s plans in areas such as job creation, investment attraction, and sustainable economic growth.
On February 12, at the invitation of the Honourable Raj Chouhan, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Consul General travelled to Victoria on the occasion of Opening of the Second Session of the 43rd Parliament. On this occasion, he also signed the book of condolences on behalf of the Consulate General of Afghanistan and the diaspora, expressing sympathy and solidarity following the tragic incident in Tumbler Ridge.
On February 13, 2026, Consul General Manawi attended a cultural evening and concert by talented artist Samir Roshan, organized by Dawoud Eshan and Afghan Sound Entertainment. The event brought together members of the Afghan-Canadian community and friends of Afghanistan for an evening celebrating Afghan music and cultural heritage. The Consul General commended the organizers for promoting arts and fostering unity through cultural initiatives.
On February 18, he attended the birthday and life celebration of His Honour Sergio Cocchia, held at the Century Plaza Hotel and organized by the Honourable Wendy Cocchia, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia. The event was attended by members of the consular corps, government representatives, leaders of major institutions, and distinguished guests.
On February 19, 2026, he participated in a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Consular Corps of BC, where he serves as a member. The meeting focused on planning upcoming programs and events for the Consular Corps, as well as discussing ways to further strengthen collaboration and engagement among members of the consular community in the province.
On February 20, Consul General Manawi attended the Emperor’s Day and Japan’s National Day Reception hosted by the Consulate General of Japan in Vancouver. The well-attended and memorable event brought together government dignitaries, Members of the Legislative Assembly, Consuls General, and community leaders in celebration of Japan’s National Day and the enduring friendship between Japan and Canada.
On February 22, he joined the 2026 Vancouver Spring Festival. The celebration, organized by the Chinese Benevolent Association of Vancouver in collaboration with several partner organizations, highlighted the rich cultural heritage and contributions of the Asian communities in BC and Canada. During the event, the Consul General delivered brief remarks extending warm New Year greetings and best wishes for peace, prosperity, and continued success.
In addition to these public engagements, the Consul General held separate meetings with several Consuls General to exchange views on matters of mutual interest and further strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the consular community.
Through these activities, the Consulate General of Afghanistan in Vancouver continues to actively contribute to dialogue, cultural exchange, and collaboration.
